What personal data Tallyo collects, why, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it, in plain words.
Who we are
Tallyo makes proof of delivery software for distributors, logistics companies and the brands they deliver for. Drivers photograph each delivery and Tallyo checks the photos and the waybill and returns a verdict with its reasons.
Use the contact form on our home page with any question about this policy or your data, and we'll reply by email.
What this policy covers
It covers two things: this website, including the contact form, and the Tallyo service that businesses use to check their deliveries. The two work differently, so each has its own section below.
When you contact us
The form asks for your name, work email, organisation, the kind of organisation, the number of vehicles you run and an optional message. We use these details only to reply to you and, if we agree one, to set up and run a free trial.
We rely on your request (steps you ask us to take before a possible contract) and on our legitimate interest in answering business enquiries. We keep a message for up to 12 months after our last contact with you, unless your organisation becomes a customer, in which case the customer agreement applies.
Data in the Tallyo service
When a business uses Tallyo, that business decides what delivery data is collected and why. Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 it is the data controller, and Tallyo processes the data on its behalf and on its written instructions, as a data processor.
For each delivery the service may hold:
- the photos the driver takes: the goods, the waybill or delivery note, the shop front, and any damage;
- what is written on the waybill, including the outlet, items, quantities, dates, and the receiver's name and signature;
- the phone's time and GPS position at the moment each photo is taken, and a fingerprint of each photo;
- the driver's name and account, the vehicle, the route and the outlet's location;
- the checks, the verdict, its reasons, and every approval, rejection and note made by the business's staff.
If you are a driver, a shop owner or anyone else whose data is in a business's deliveries, please contact that business first. We will help it answer your request.
Drivers and location
Tallyo captures a driver's location only at the moment a delivery photo is taken. It never tracks drivers continuously, and the app tells drivers this before they use it. Location is used to check that a delivery happened at the right outlet, at a time that fits the route.
Shop owners and bystanders
Shop front photos can include people who happen to be there. Their faces are blurred automatically in exports and evidence packs, and the photos are used only to check the delivery and to compare the outlet with earlier visits.
Automated checks and human decisions
Tallyo uses AI models to read waybills, count cartons, spot damage and compare photos, and rules to turn those checks into a verdict with reasons and a confidence level. The verdict helps the business decide; it does not decide on its own. Final decisions on disputes stay with the business, and anyone affected by a decision can ask the business for a person to review it.
How long we keep data
Delivery photos, evidence packs and the records around them are kept for 24 months by default and then deleted. A customer's contract can set a shorter or longer period. Messages from the contact form are kept as described above.
How we protect it
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is based on roles (admin, dispatcher, driver, finance and viewer), so people see only what their job needs, and every verdict and decision is written to an audit trail.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask to see the personal data held about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
If you are unhappy with how your data is handled, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. We would like the chance to put it right first.
Use the contact form on our home page to use any of these rights, and we'll reply by email.
Children
Tallyo is a service for businesses and is not meant for children.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will update this page. If a change matters to how a customer's data is handled, we will tell the customer first.
